Businesses sending passwords over net

Can there be anything worse than signing up to service which requires you to create a username and password, only to get a welcome email back saying “Thanks for signing up etc” and there for all to see is your username and password?

Well a lot businesses and organisations do this and it is only when you get an email like the one mentioned that you realise how serious it could have been, after all most people try to use the same username and passwords for all of their sign ups, this makes it easier to remember otherwise you would need to write them all down.

But if we backtrack slightly, to the sign up process, wouldn’t it be much easier and safer to use a simple sign up username and password, once the process is complete you them change them over to the ones that you prefer. But in some cases you will receive an email showing the old and the new passwords it’s a problem that everyone should be aware of.
