IBM actually encourages employees to social network

Social networks and business are not very compatible, at least when companies find out that their staff are spending too much work time on their own social networking site. But some companies have seen the light and social networking could soon become cool at work again.

IBM have been experimenting with social networking and encouraging their employees to sign up and get involved.

The point behind all of this is to see if this sort of communication can be effectively used within the business sector, already there are around 30,000 employees who have signed up, which is great, because from a business point of view the would be little time wasted by people popping down to other departments etc.
