What online newspapers need to know?
Newspapers work on paper, but when they put their newspapers online all of the skills and know how seem to all fly out of the window. This leaves their online presence looking a bit of a disaster and for what ever that is, this actually costs the newspapers visitors and in time money.
Their main problems are here:
Taking down stories/changing link structure
Not linking to external sources to reference things
Forcing users to login to view stories
Relegating comments to separate pages
Ease of use, search, RSS subscriptions by section, etc.
Until they realise that a website is not the same a newspaper the better off they will be.
