Life without Gates

Well its that day, Bill Gates will be turning up at Microsoft HQ for the last time as the Boss, from today he steps down from the day to day management of the company, what’s in store for the company now?

This is what Steve Ballmer and his team could be looking at:

Stop trying to be everything to everybody
Upgrade continuously, not once every few years
Be innovative–no, seriously
Treat customers like kings, not peons
Make Windows a seamless desktop-Web experience
Reboot Windows
Split Windows in two
Make Windows more boring
Make Windows Mobile the flagship
Leapfrog Google Docs
Bundle Office with an online suite
Make the Office file formats indispensable on the Web
Take a studio approach to software
Build Internet Explorer on top of Firefox
Be a leading iPhone developer

Will they rise up to the challenge or carrying on the old familiar way? There has never been a better opportunity for the whole aspect of the company to change direction, but will they take the chance?
